It might sound a little ‘out there’, but me and many other women practising this manifestation technique are living proof it works! Take a look at my latest blog post to learn the first steps to creating a life that just… flows by tapping into your natural cycles.
In ancient times, Native cultures, and modern aboriginal cultures, the feminine menstrual cycle was and is considered divine.
Now, the ancient tradition of women gathering in women's circles. moon lodges or ‘Red Tents’ during their bleeding time is being revived as we remember the power of working with our cycles to connect to our intuition and deep wisdom.
Inside these cosy, womb-like spaces, women reflect, connect with the earth and their sisters. Rumour has it that in societies of old, the women would even be brought meals by the men in their community - time to resurrect this tradition, don't you think?
It may be hard to believe today, but the menstrual cycle used to be highly respected and revered as a natural and sacred cycle that held the secrets of life.
Somewhere along the way, many of us became disconnected from these natural cycles, internalising messages of shame around our periods. But there is a power we can tap into when we honour our natural rhythms - and many women are waking up to how working with our ebb and flow can help create a life of ease and abundance.
So, here are the first 5 steps you need to take if you want to begin to truly harness this power in order to manifest with the menstrual cycle:
Step #1: Track your cycle
This is an essential first step if you want to manifest with your menstrual cycle.
By tracking your cycle and taking notes on the changes you experience throughout the month - emotionally, physically, energetically - you will begin to notice patterns that can help you make the best use of your time in each phase.
Instead of swimming against the tide and suppressing your body’s natural urges, working with this wisdom means you’re more likely to create a state of gratitude for these vital signals. Flowing in a feeling of gratitude is essential for manifesting more of what you want.
Step #2: Listen to your PMS
Our culture might label premenstrual women as “crazy”, “irrational” and “over emotional”, but menstrual wisdom counsels us not to completely write-off the challenging emotions that rise up in this phase.
What if the tears and rage during the pre-menstrual phase of your cycle are actually a way to connect with the most hidden parts of yourself, that are being brought up to the surface for a reason?
Take time out to honour your feelings instead of suppressing them or explaining them away as PMS. You might just find that your symptoms have been trying to point you in a new direction that’s so much better for you than your current reality.
A key step to manifesting with the menstrual cycle is changing your relationship to your pre-menstrual phase.
Become prepared to listen to the deeper desires you are holding and that are fighting to be expressed. These are vital sign-posts towards allowing your true intentions to manifest into reality.
I just LOVE to journal, so always suggest using a good old pen and paper to note down feelings and urges that are arising now.
It's also wise to pay close attention to your dreams during this phase for clues about what wants to be seen and manifested.
Step #3: Learn to cooperate with your body
Fighting with your body’s needs only leads to exhaustion and stress.
Tuning into your cycle means strengthening your mind-body connection and listening to what your body is trying to communicate to you. If we ignore these messages, we can end up paying, so make sure you set aside time everyday to check in with yourself, how you’re feeling, and what you need.
This time out can be a game-changer, especially during busy phases where you may be doing a lot for others.
By learning to listen to the subtle clues from your body wisdom, you’ll find yourself more deeply guided to manifest what you really need, as opposed to just wishing for something that might actually be out of alignment for you.
Step #4: Create moon rituals
Doing something with a particular intention in a ceremonial or ritualistic way can make even preparing and drinking a cup of tea sacred.
You can use your cycle to inspire your own rituals. Perhaps you treat yourself to a candlelit bath during menstruation, or have a particularly nurturing and restorative yoga session.
Creating rituals with the moon’s phases is the most effective way I (and many other women) have found to ensure we are constantly checking-in with what needs to be let go of in order to make space for our new, true manifestations.
Using a simple ritual on the full moon, such as writing down what you want to let go of and then burning the paper; or an intention-setting ritual on the new moon to usher in what you want to manifest, are powerful ways to bring yourself into alignment with your power.
Step #6 Celebrate your cycle
Once you begin the journey to befriending your cycle, everything can change.
No longer is your monthly bleed something to consider an inconvenience, nor your pre-menstrual phase something to dread.
Instead, by owning, embodying and responding to every phase of your cycle and how each one feels for you, you can use the unique qualities of each to your own advantage.
This is something to be celebrated! Express gratitude and awe at what your body goes through every month. This might even lead you to feeling excited about your period rather than disrupted by it.
By honouring the dark and light of the seasons that our womb goes through every month - the summer of ovulation and the winter of menstruation - we can begin to feel a lot more “in flow” and connected to our own rhythms.
Every woman holds a sacred compass inside her womb space, always guiding us to live in true alignment with what's best for our growth.
Whether you are still bleeding or not (and so work more closely with the moon’s cycles), learning to deeply listen and work WITH the cycle is the foundation of manifesting what it in true alignment for you.
